During one of my recent trips to the United States, I stopped into a store in the China Town area of the city and came across these unusual mask. As soon as I saw them I knew they would make for some awesome images, so I bought a few of them. When I got back on the island I contacted singer/songwriter Keeya to use as my subject as I thought her look would be perfect to fit the vibe of the steam punk styled masks.
We got together at the studio one night and started to make the magic happen. I decided to go with a dramatic, gel light set up and kicked it up with the smoke machine to make it all a bit cinematic. We shot about 3 different lighting setups/ moods and I think what we captured was something special.
